Roam Discipline: Only Roam When the Math Says Go
If I only commit to roams that meet a strict checklist, does my success rate go up — and what does it cost my own lane?
The jungle season's Gank Discipline challenge found that most bad ganks are tower dives wearing a gank's clothes — the same coaching point applies to mid roams, with one addition. A jungler ganking has no lane of their own to lose. A mid roaming does — every second spent walking to a side lane is CS and wave state given up whether the roam works or not, so the checklist here needs a fourth box the jungle version never had to ask.
The rules
- 01 Before committing: is the target lane actually overextended, past the river rather than shoved into their own tower?
- 02 Before committing: does my ally have priority to follow up — wave state and summoners?
- 03 Before committing: is the target's Flash or key escape down?
- 04 Before committing: is my own wave in a state I can safely leave?
- 05 If any box is unchecked, walk away — and say so on camera.
