Gank Discipline: Only Gank When the Math Says Go
If I only commit to ganks that meet a strict checklist, does my success rate go up — and does my kill participation actually rise or fall?
Coaches are consistent on this: most ganks that go wrong below Diamond are not mechanical misplays, they are dives into a lane pushed to the enemy tower rather than one that is genuinely overextended. That is a tower dive wearing a gank's clothes, and it needs a level lead, a numbers advantage and dive-ready kits to work at all. The content here is the restraint. Walking away from a gank and saying why on camera is a good tonal break from the higher-chaos episodes — and the interesting question is whether kill participation actually drops when you stop forcing them.
The rules
- 01 Before committing: is the enemy laner overextended, past the river rather than shoved into their own tower?
- 02 Before committing: does my laner have priority to follow up — wave state and summoners?
- 03 Before committing: is the target's Flash or key escape down?
- 04 If any box is unchecked, walk away — and say so on camera.
